Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and listen to this song… It’s how I feel.
I was dancing when I was twelve.
I was dancing when I was twelve.
I was dancing when I was old. I was dancing when I was old.
I danced myself out of the womb. I danced myself out of the womb.
Is it strange to dance so soon? Is it strange to dance so soon?
Is it wrong to understand the fear that dwells inside a man?
What’s it like to be alone?
I liken it to a balloon…
Oh.
I’ll dance myself into the tomb. I’ll dance myself into the tomb.
Is it strange to dance so soon? Is it strange to dance so soon?
Is it wrong to understand the fear that dwells inside a man?
What’s it like to be alone? I liken it to a balloon.
Oh.
Have you heard the original?
My parents had a wonderful collection of ’70’s albums. I discvered “Cosmic Dancer” one night at 13, while daydreaming under our pool table, and thought, “yes, yes, exactly, I feel the same!”. “T-Rex” and more specifically their singer/songwriter front man Marc Bolan (now deceased) is responsible for this gem. But don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that Morrissey popularized it– I don’t imagine there are too many of us “T-Rex” fans out in the world to spread his (Bolan’s) genius
